11 Photos (and Reasons) That Will Make You Want to Visit Maputo, Mozambique

Most people don't know where Mozambique is, not to mention what its capital city is (it's Maputo). Bayka even thought that Mozambique was an ex-french colony before he went there (it's ex-Portuguese).  Those that do know about it, but haven't been, all to often associate it with the common perception of Africa: poverty, underdevelopment, chaos, war, disease - you get the idea. It's so frustrating and such a shame that Africa, and its 54 countries, are given so much negative press.

We recently had the privilege of housesitting in Maputo for one month and absolutely loved it! What an underrated city, man. What we found was a well-established, laid-back, and handsome port city, encrusted with one-of-a-kind architectural gems, a surprising history, and EPIC food.

Here are 11 photos that will hopefully inspire you to visit this beautiful place (or at least change your perception)!
